The Butterflies attack the eggs have landed

So each an every year this happens, its nature but a pain in the back side. Its warm enough now and the white butterflies are out like little german bombers dropping their doom on all my plants!

I learnt a few years ago to employ decoy tactics, this is in the shape of nasturtiums, and covering my cabbage/sprouts etc.

The nasturtiums are more accessible and easier to get at so the butterflies fill the leaves up with their eggs in the hope i won't notice.

Well i do, but this time round i have taken some photos to help people understand the stages the eggs go through. I hope this helps people ID things on their plants and act appropriately (flame throwers at the ready)

The above is just after they are laid, you really need to act as soon as possible to remove them before they hatch and eat every last drop of available green.

This is just before they hatch, if you find them like this you got there just in time.

Doom has arrived, if you don't find them at this point you will arrive the next day to blitz style devastation. I generally remove the leaf when i find them like this, if i managed to miss the eggs in the first place. Im not one for killing bugs etc so i just let them munch the leaf in a part of the garden away from the plot or the flowers.

Hope that was helpful to maybe one of you that reads this.

Been traveling around this week, Been to Boston buying a pond for aquaponics (next post)
